Beneath the Kitchen Sink

The vast number of cleaning supplies lining the grocery shelves have never had an appeal. They all seem to make a different promise and in the end, you may just have your home smelling like a lemon scented coconut in springtime with hints of cinnamon apple and pine. If that doesn't sound pleasant, you can always buy a scented deodorizer to help mask the chemical smells that remain. The endless number of scents and the promises that they offer. And for the prices?! Do they even deliver?

I'm sensitive to strong scents and I'm not a big fan of paying the prices for cleaning supplies that I might use once or not at all. Second to the cleaning supplies on the grocery shelves, my next least favorite spot is the one beneath my kitchen sink. Until recently, it was loaded with tons of cleansers that over-promised and under-delivered. When I first sought out to simplify, one of the first areas was the supplies that I used for cleaning.

I wondered what our grandmothers, or even their grandmothers used for cleaning. It is likely that they had fewer products from which to choose. They were also more frugal-- in most cases, because they had to be.

When it comes to living a more simple and frugal lifestyle, chemicals and cleansers are an important thing to take a look at.

Considering making a change to ridding your cupboard of all of the chemicals, or even working towards minimizing?

There are many good reasons to consider making a change. spending less money, using fewer products, and the overall good feeling of not exposing yourself and your family to chemicals are all good reasons to consider making a change and learning to clean your home with all-natural cleaning supplies.
